How to Use Daily:

  • Lather African Black Soap into your palms
  • Sprinkle Bisous Pour Tous Facial Exfoliant into the soap lather; scrub face in circular motion, then rinse. For deeper mechanical AND chemical exfoliation, apply mixture immediately and let lather set on the face like a mask, about 5 minutes. For chemical exfoliation only (for sensitive skin), emulsify the exfoliant into the soap lather until all sugar granules break down (it should feel more like a creamy honey). Then apply to skin and allow to set like a mask, about 5 minutes. Rinse.
  • Pat dry, then apply Raven's Balm to freshly prepared skin

Tips:

  • Safe for daily use- best at night, before bedtime, allowing the skin to be fully nourished during sleep.
  • Yes, you can use the exfoliant daily. If it feels too scratchy or harsh, just emulsify it into the lather until all sugar granules are broken down. You will still get a glycolic acid exfoliation without any of the mechanical exfoliation.
  • Don't leave African Black Soap in the shower- it is very humectant, and will get soft and mushy. Store it in a dry place.
  • Don't take the Bisous Pour Tous jar into the shower- water will enter the jar and contaminate the product. Instead, use our petite soap basin to hold a scoop of the exfoliant and a square of African Black Soap while showering. Then rinse the basin out and store the soap square in it on the sink counter. That's how we do it. :)
  • Use Raven's Balm for every dry area- feet, elbows, knees, chest... and try it on burns, too!

How do I know which product to use for my skin type?

We formulate to promote balance: we use broad spectrum oils, we don't use harsh synthetic chemicals, and we have the power of cofactor synergy occurring in our formulations. Because of that, each of our products is perfect for all skin types: oily, dry, combination, and normal. That leaves you to choose your product according to your mark on the timeline of history:

  • Babies just need a little soap and oil, and sometimes a diapering cream.
  • Teens thrive on our Facial Cleansing Oil and African Black Soap. They LOVE the Bisous Pour Tous Facial Exfoliant and our Lip Tribute Lip Balms, too!
  • Everyone after that age can and should use our Facial Trivium, Gravitas, L'Huile Corp, and everything else we make. Because you deserve it all.
What product works best for eczema?

Eczema is a tricky condition- one size does not fit all when it comes to treatment. We have seen good success with our Facial Trivium in helping eczema symptoms. Our Gravitas Facial Serum helps sooth symptoms as well. Our Whipped Shea Butters are very soothing for instant relief, and our L'Huile Corp (Body + Face+ Shave Oil) works well also. For babies, try our Creme Pour Bebe and our baby soap.

I thought you weren't supposed to exfoliate daily. Why do you suggest it?

Dead skin refuses to be moisturized or nourished. Our faces have 25-30 layers of it on the outer surface. The top layer needs to hop off daily. This is called cellular turnover. Without daily, healthy turnover, the skin becomes susceptible to free radical damage, acne, wrinkles, eczema, age spots, and overall dullness. To promote healthy cellular, daily gentle exfoliation is needed. The trick is to use mild, effective exfoliants to get the job done. Many cosmetic companies use harsh exfoliants like salt, microplastics, crushed shells and seeds, and alphahydroxy acids. They certainly work to exfoliate, but they are too harsh to use daily, and can cause micro tears in the skin, as well as disrupt the skin's natural microbiome.

Our formulations are gentle, simple, completely natural, and are both a mechanical and chemical exfoliant, giving you the best of both abilities.

Our rule: exfoliate in the evening, before bed. It helps to remove the day's grime from the face and allows your body to repair healthily while you sleep.

Do you take back your boxes and bottles? I don't know what to do with them when I'm finished.
