There sure is a lot of thinking involved in developing new ways to make skin look and feel gorgeous. From selecting oils that are not only noncomodogenic but also unrefined or only slightly processed to finding just the right strain of lavender or peppermint, the Savvy Bohème selection process for each and every individual ingredient takes days, sometimes weeks (and months) to complete. I always want to be confident that the products that we create for your body care are made with ingredients that I can stand behind, that I am fully informed about, and are from reputable sources.
I have experimented with six different types of lavender (I am very pleased with the Croatian strain, which is what you are getting when you order our lovely lavender products), three types of patchouli (dark is where it’s at!), and several types of rose essential oil (which, as far as I can tell, when it comes to rose, Shakespeare was right- by any other name, it still smells as sweet. ; )
But in my journey of learning and creating products that are truely capable of nourishment, I have been bewildered by two things:
- How can I make a liquid moisturizer that is made with really REAL ingredients, without the use of synthetic preservatives to prevent it from spoiling (it doesn’t sound complicated, but believe me, check the labels on ANY of your liquid moisturizers and google the ingredients…you’ll see what they are made of…)
- Where can I find THE vanilla essential oil that smells like cake, like the one my very favorite other body care company uses (I ain’t telling ya their name – you’ll love them, too, plus they are really clever and especially nice-
it would be like introducing your husband to Angelia Jolie, and well…you get the idea… ; ) . I have tried dozens, literally, and most smell like not cake…
However, tonite, as I sit at my desk, blogging and listening to an odd itunes mix including Enigma: Sadness Part 1 and Nina Cherry, I am pleased, excited, ECSTATIC and extremely contented to say that I have stupefied myself by finding resolutions to BOTH quandaries in the same place. And my help is coming from Texas, I might add…I love that part…It’s the only state in the union where people fashion their wedding rings, bathroom sinks, and hot tubs in it’s likeness…my hubs even has a birthmark in the shape of Texas- He’s patriotic that way… check it out, down by his sleeve ↓
.
So, for your information: In about 2 weeks from today, you will be able to purchase a very high-end, highly nourishing liquid moisturizer in a pump bottle, with the texture that you are familiar with, but with only natural ingredients- no synthetic preservatives or fillers. Now, for those extra dry areas, and for your face, I still recommend our Whipped Shea beauty- she never disappoints when it comes to hard-core moisturization- she works harder than ANY moisturizer I have met.
And if you order a product that contains vanilla essential oil, just know that it will smell like cake. Lavender cake, Sweet orange cake, Rose cake…and coming soon…Peppermint and Patchouli cake in a fiercely passionate scent called “Tigerlily”…It’s all good. And calorie- free, as long as you don’t eat it, which you will want to…but don’t.

Well written, Girl, I can't wait to smell the new stuff. See you at Canton
